I’ll never forget sitting in my first apartment on a fold-up chair, watching TV (which was mounted on the ground) thinking I’ve really made it. I dreamed of a couch and an actual bed (not just a mattress) and perhaps one day a dining room table to have friends over for dinner parties. As the years have gone by and I’ve acquired the staples, it seems there’s always a lust for something… an outdoor seating area, kitchen appliances, and ottomans. One by one we target things to enhance our home.
My latest craving is to create a bar area within my apartment. I’ve mentioned that I love having friends over for dinner and often times opt for these gatherings rather than bar hopping, so finding the room for a place to pour Skinnygirl Margaritas and wine appears to be my next big purchase. Whether this happens tomorrow or sometime within the year – I take comfort in realizing I’ve come a long way since white walls and folding chairs.
